The Falcon Farmhouse, part of the luxury holiday collection known as The Fledglings at The Tawny Estate, is a beautifully re-imagined Grade II Listed stone farmhouse nestled in the stunning Staffordshire countryside. Complete with high-quality accommodation and a private swimming pool, the property has now been elevated with the addition of a dedicated 8-seater home cinema.
Bespoke Home Cinemas was tasked with designing and constructing a high-end cinema room to deliver an aspirational, luxurious, yet cosy experience for guests, while maintaining the rustic charm of the Falcon Farmhouse. Our goal was to enhance the property’s value and elevate the guest experience, setting a new benchmark for luxury retreats.
The Tawny Hotel itself has recently won Boutique Hotel of the Year, further cementing its reputation as one of the most sought-after luxury destinations in the UK. The cinema at Falcon Farmhouse has also been a hit with both national consumer and industry press, with features in The Times, Tech Radar, Home Cinema Choice Magazine, Home Cinema Alliance, Connect AWE and Essential Install.
Technology and Performance:
We selected high-performance equipment from top-tier brands, including Bowers & Wilkins, Sony, and Denon, to ensure a cinema experience that exceeds expectations. The project was designed, installed, and fully calibrated by Bespoke Home Cinemas to fit seamlessly within this unique setting.
Audience & Ambience:
Versatility was key. We designed the space to accommodate various group sizes, creating a cosy and sophisticated atmosphere in tune with the exclusive retreat experience The Tawny Estate offers.
Challenges:
A major challenge for this project was meeting the firm deadline for the cinema’s completion, timed for the first holiday bookings in July 2024. The room was stripped back to its original brickwork to prepare for acoustic treatment. Collaborative work with the builders, joiners, and electricians ensured we met our deadline while maintaining the high-quality standards expected of our brand.
The Solution:
We installed a breathtaking 7.2.4 cinema system, featuring a star ceiling and scene lighting, integrated Bowers & Wilkins speakers and subwoofers, and a native 4k Sony laser projector. Amplification, processing, and source selection were handled by a flagship Denon receiver, all thoughtfully selected to match the client’s ambitions for the space.
The use of Bowers & Wilkins speakers, known for their exceptional sound quality and featured in Abbey Road studios, delivered a high-end audio experience that perfectly complements the room's aesthetics. Our integration of the in-wall and in-ceiling speakers preserved the farmhouse's authentic charm, while still achieving top-tier performance. Original wooden beams remain a key design feature, with materials and colours used to harmonise with the farmhouse’s rustic feel.
Additionally, the choice of Bowers & Wilkins — a revered global brand — added a sense of luxury and aspiration to the cinema room, creating an experience that guests would desire to replicate in their own homes. By integrating sophisticated technology with timeless design, we enhanced the guest experience and raised the property’s standard of luxury.
The Sony VPL-XW5000 native 4K projector was selected for its compact size, 8.3 million pixels, and brightness of up to 2000 lumens. Paired with a 3.2m acoustically transparent projection screen, it delivers stunning visuals that complement the high-end audio, making the cinema room a standout feature of the property.
